Hide the iPhones – There’s More to Do in Ogunquit!

Tonight is opening night for the new Gershwin musical comedy, Crazy for You.  Rue McClanahan– the Golden Girl is live on stage and guest starring, which is a treat. Who doesn’t love Blanche? Plus, the song list looks like a blast – I’ve Got Rhythm, Embraceable You, They Can’t Take That Away From Me. If you have never been to the Playhouse, we highly recommend seeing a show. This is the 75th year for ‘Broadway at the Beach’ – which is remarkable. iPhones, iPods, Black Berries, HDTV, portable DVD players and still, the Playhouse packs ’em in.

We often see families hanging out in their rooms with the TV going and the DVD player humming away on the laptop when there is such great and fun activities in Ogunquit, including Children’s theatre at the Playhouse, the Heritage Museum, the Seacoast Trolley Museum, Ghostly Tours in York, York’s Wild Kingdom and Ogunquit Beach – perfect for surfing, flying a kite or building a sandcastle. (We recommend Liquid Dreams for surf lessons and the Ogunquit Camera Shop for beach supplies.)

So, when you head on your Ogunquit vacation this year, our recommendation is to hide the iPhones, Blackberries, laptops and unplug. Sometimes that’s the best way to connect!
