Ogunquit’s September Arts Festival

It’s that time of year! Capriccio – the Festival of the Arts – arrives in Ogunquit. Two weeks of events – almost all of them free to our guests. Simply a great time to be in Ogunquit – the crowds have waned, the weather is glorious and town shifts towards fall.

CAPRICCIO

Ogunquit’s two-week long, town-wide festival of the arts. The  annual Capriccio runs in early September. Here is a sample:

Sunday September 2

  • Portland Ballet 1 pm, Ogunquit Playhouse
  • Benefit Concert 5 – 6 pm, Ogunquit Baptist Church, 157 Shore Road. A variety of musical entertainment: organ, jazz, pop, etc.
  • Suede 8 pm, Jonathan’s

Monday, September 3

  • Poets in Person 7:30 pm, Barn Gallery. Readings by local poets in a “cabaret” setting with refreshments.

Tuesday September 4

  • Aaron Larget-Caplan in a Classical Guitar Recital. 6 pm, Ogunquit Museum of American Art, 543 Shore Road

Wednesday September 5

  • Art Film: Girl with a Pearl Earring 7:30 pm, Barn Gallery

Thursday September 6

  • Gallery Talk by Chris Calivas and Evelyne Harper Neill, 7:30, Barn Gallery. They view the world through their art.

Friday September 7

  • Comedy Readers Theatre 7 pm, Wells Ogunquit Center, Route 1, Moody
  • Buckwheat Zydaco 9 pm, Jonathan’s

Saturday September 8

  • Kite Festival 10:30 am, Ogunquit Beach. Kites (free) for kits to design and fly. Lots of prizes. Professional kite-flyers, too
  • Reception 5 – 8 pm. Barn Gallery. View the new exhibition
  • Nature Crafts Festival 10 am – 4 pm Laudholm Farm
  • Craft Fair all day. Wells-Ogunquit Elementary School

Sunday September 9
