All Aboard! Downeaster has a BOGO deal!

There’s definitely something nostalgic about riding a train. The whistle, the conductor, the sound of the rails. And there’s definitely something to like about a buy-one-get-one special – which is what you can find on the Downeaster (also known as the Downeasta around here, ayuh). Check out the details online at Amtrak’s site.

Did you know that May 9th is National Train Day? Which happens to be Mother’s Day weekend. What a neat idea to take mom to Maine! One can go for the day or on an overnight.

The Downeaster is a great take – leaving from North Station, you can reach Wells, Maine in about 90 minutes. There’s plenty of leg room, a cafe car and even a quiet car for relaxing. And if you live in the suburbs, there’s a stop at Woburn and Haverhill  – and parking is usually free. Once you arrive, taxis and trolleys will take you to the hotel for check in or downtown Ogunquit for a day trip. There is a station attendant to help with directions and provide guidance.

Other promotions we found are Kid’s Free Sundays and Half Price Senior Days. Looks like there’s a deal for everyone. Makes you want to yell ‘All Aboard!’
