- Our guests love the beach but few love to bring the beach home with them. Celia was cleaning a departure room in the Country Squire when she noticed a guest who was emptying her cooler after returning form the beach and getting ready to pack her vehicle to return home. The guest made a face of discontent as she noticed all the wet sand at the bottom of her cooler and then looked despairingly at her vehicle. Celia approached the guest and offered her a rag and helped her clean out the cooler so that the wet sand could stay behind and all that would return home with the guest was happy memories of Ogunquit.
- We are very privileged to be a part of many big moments in our guests’ lives. Arianna was working at the desk when a guest mentioned at check in that he was planning on proposing to his girlfriend during their stay. She waited until the guest left for their walk on the Marginal Way, where he planned to pop the big question, and placed a box of chocolates in their room congratulating them both.
- We are focused on customer service regardless if we are on the clock or not. Arianna had finished her shift for the day and returned to the resort to meet a fellow coworker whose shift was just ending. An elderly couple was checking in while she was waiting in the lobby, the guests were having difficulty understanding where their room was located, she assisted the guests and showed them how to get to their room and then assisted them with their luggage.
“Customers perceive service in their own unique, idiosyncratic, emotional, irrational, end-of-the-day, and totally human terms. Perception is all there is!” – Peter Peters
Thank you for letting us share this week’s service stories with you. Each week we hope our little differences help bring a smile to your face – remember, service is not dead. It just took a vacation to Maine!
