Maine Food & Art
Mmmmm, the food in Maine is de-lish! Couple yummy lobster rolls and seafood with stunning art and great music – and you have yourself quite the party. And a great reason to visit: Kennebunkport Festival Weekend. Always in June – so you can think of it as an early celebration of summer – the festival is highlighted by the Grand Tasting Party and Brews & Tunes.
Here are our top five things to do at the Kennebunkport Festival
The Art of Dining Dinners
Hosted at local homes and a chance to peek into spectacular kitchens and dining rooms, grab a ticket to the host of your choice. Featuring fabulous chefs and cuisine in relaxed home settings, theses dinners are an amazing way to have an intimate dining experience. Hey, you gotta eat right?
The Hinckley Reception at Chicks Marina
One can view gorgeous Hinckley Yachts with cocktails, yummy bites and live music. Creating outstanding yachts since 1928, you will be able to see up close and in person the craftsmanship of Maine boat building. The original boat was called the So’thwester for the northern Maine port called Southwest Harbor where the company began. But go no farther than Kennebunkport to enjoy a great boat this weekend!
Brew & Tunes
Maine food is most definitely not all about being stuffy. Perfect example is The Green at the Captain Lord Mansion for Brews and Tunes. It’s an afternoon of–you guessed it–beer and live music. There will be food trucks, vendors, and a lot of fun. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome – heck, even encouraged.
Art Works
And continuing on that non-stuffy theme, Maine art has a wonderful warm and everyone welcome vibe that truly comes alive with Art Collector Maine. Featuring Maine’s most collectible artists at the Gallery at the Grand, stroll thru casually and discover your new favorite artists. From sculpture to oils, acrylics to photography, Maine’s art scene hip and here.
The Grand Tasting Party
Located inside a stunning white tent along the Kennebunk River, visit over 25 chefs and wineries offering samples. You simply cannot leave hungry with outstanding talent such as the White Barn Inn team, Mark Gaier and Clark Fraser of MC’s, Pierre Gignac and more. Not sure who they are? Well, it’s grand ol’ time you came and tasted!
Still not sure about Kennebunkport Festival Weekend?
Add a little extra fun with a walk along Marginal Way to work up an appetite for Ogunquit’s own restaurant scene or start off with the Ogunquit Museum of American Art to catch up on Maine’s art history. Be sure to bring your appetite. There really is nothing as wonderful as the Maine Food and Art scene to start the summer.
If you’re thinking of visiting our Ogunquit hotel in June to enjoy a cozy cocktail by the garden fire pit or to head to Maine for a weekend getaway, check out our Kennebunkport Festival package and great hotel room choices with a central location.
