Dad’s Day and more in Ogunquit
Dad is special. Super special. So when Father’s Day comes round, Ogunquit makes for a special place to celebrate, including the good old standby: Father’s Day Golf. Whether enjoying a morning round with Dad or taking the afternoon to say thanks, Dad’s weekend is highlighted by friends and family.
Here are our top five things to do for Father’s Day in Ogunquit
Hit the Links
Yes, the course at Links at Outlook Farm is links style and you may have to get up at sunrise to make the old man the first on the course, but the gorgeous views are worth it. Another classic is the Cape Neddick County Club and if you both are avid golfers, the Ledges. Just remember Dad is not picking up the 19th hole tab and you may just want to give him an extra mulligan. Both courses are just a short drive from the hotel, so you’ll quickly get to tee off.
Picnic by the Sea
Dad’s everywhere say the same thing: Stand up straight. But right after that, they say how much they love spending time with their families. Stop by the Village Food Market to fill a picnic basket with sandwiches, Maine made goodies and maybe a quick stop at Harbor Candy Shop for handmade chocolates, then head to Ogunquit Beach to fly a kite with Dad.
Dad’s Massage
Remember when you took the car out that one time? Or when you best tee ball swing was a line drive into Dad’s, well, you know? Yeah, that’s why a massage is a great idea for Father’s Day. Even better Your Body Works has treatment rooms at the hotel. Sure you could get the 30 minutes, but remember – he got you to ride a bike. Take the hour for good measure.
Finestkind Cruise
Well, okay – so maybe not just a Father’s Day idea. The Finestkind cruises are a great take no matter when you are in Ogunquit. Sign up for one with dear Mom and either learn to lobster or see the famous Nubble Lighthouse together. Then you’ll be better than that other favorite kid. With full bar on the boat and the smell of sea, you will be the first mate to Captain Dad for the day.
All Aboard!
Journey up to the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport. With over 250 transit vehicles from around the world, the Museum is a fascinating trip thru transportation. Street cars harken back to a time of paper boys and bell hops. A real treat for Dad to enjoy with the kids.
