Thanksgiving Dinner in Ogunquit

thanksgiving things to do in ogunquit maineIt’s the holidays and time to get gobblin’! So after the travel and football comes one of the best parts of the holiday: The Thanksgiving meal. Whether you are a turkey fanatic or only hum-hum about a drum stick – the day is highlighted by friends and family around a shared table.

Here are our top five ways to enjoy Thanksgiving in Ogunquit

Jonathan’s Restaurant
Speaking of drumsticks and stuffing, the Thanksgiving dinner right next door at Jonathan’s is both easy to get to and yummy. It’s almost tempting to stay in your pajamas the dining room is so close to our hotel. While we do encourage some basic clothing (elastic waistbands are understandable), we say gobble, gobble – after all, this is all the fixings and no cleaning!

Craft Beer Crawl
Of course we all know that beer goes with football. Here in Maine, we make that a craft beer. So check out a flight of locally made Maine beer at Cornerstone in Ogunquit or hop from Tributary Brewery in Kittery to SOME Brewers in York to Shipyard in Eliot to Federal’s Jacks in Kennebunk. Just be sure to designate whose drivin’!

Stonewall Kitchen Cooking School
Well, okay – so maybe not exactly on Thanksgiving and not a traditional meal. But sign up for one of these classes and learn how to make an amazing menu. Then you’ll have a game plan for the next time Aunt Mary assigns you the side dish. Classes like ‘Fall Harvest Gathering’ showcase Rosemary Pork Tenderloin and butter milk dinner rolls and chocolate tarts with hazelnut crumble. Coupled with a discount at the school’s store and you’ll fill your Thanksgiving will have all sorts of goodies.

Kittery Outlets
Shopping in Ogunquit and Kittery is always special with unique items in the boutique stores and oodles of outlet deals. But for Thanksgiving more than 125 stores in the Kittery Outlets offer amazing sales. You’ll discover we have special coupon vouchers for our guests, plus you can stop into Robert’s for a real Maine Moxy. The Kittery Outlets makes for a great head start on the Christmas shopping.

Take to the Sea – Or River
Wanna have your kid have the best Thanksgiving story in class? That’s easy. Check out Ogunquit’s surfing, kayaking and paddle boarding. These outdoor family activities can be done year round – the locals surf and paddle any day with waves. Head on up to Liquid Dreams in Ogunquit to be outfitted and take a lesson. Or if you already have your balance, rent the gear and get going up the Ogunquit River to check out the bird life and tidal marsh together.
