1983 – Meadowmere begins…
Opening with forty standard resort rooms with doubles beds and the latest in amenities – an indoor heated pool. Greeted by the live-in manager and her curious cocker spaniel, guests received custom postcards purchased at the Ogunquit Chamber for our Christmas by the Sea and New Year’s Specials. We had a crazy idea to stay open year round!
1984 – East Meadow Expansion…
Adding twenty eight standard resort rooms with doubles beds and giving the hotel a quiet private area, the East Meadow became affectionately known as the Red Building for its large size and bright red color.
1985 – Our Ogunquit Dining Getaway…
The weekend and weekday dining packages were one of the first in Ogunquit. The original dinner choices? Why, Jonathan’s and the Old Village Inn, of course!
1986 – West Meadow Begins…
The West Meadow building is built. And our amenities expand to include an outdoor pool, game room – complete with classics such as Ms. Pacman – and the popular West Meadow Pub. With regular live entertainment, guests begin to visit our Ogunquit inn in the winter. With eighteen more rooms, the hotel added King Fireplace Suites and our original Presidential Suite, located in the signature archway of the resort and still one of our most popular rooms. As the changes complete, each season grows in popularity and soon our little hotel fills almost every weekend of the year. Not a bad start!
1991 – Storm Devastates Marginal Way…
The No-Name Storm batters the coast of Ogunquit. The town bands together and the Cavaretta Family make a generous donation to rebuild this historic Ogunquit attraction in time for the summer vacation season.
1998 – Squire Joins the Meadowmere…
When the family run motel next door decided to retire, the Country Squire became our fourth building and part of the Meadowmere. Our only motel style offering and truly seasonal building, the Squire is a family favorite and is available May through October.
1999 – Squire Renovations Begin…
With the Squire’s addition, many changes occurred the following year to bring the twenty nine rooms into the Meadowmere style. The Squire’s outdoor pool was not saved, however. Instead the space was filled as a new and final building was to come.
2000 – The South Meadow Begins…
Completed in 2001, the South Meadow building represented the fifth and final building to join the Meadowmere family. Adding the final nineteen rooms to our Ogunquit resort, the Meadowmere becomes 144 rooms in total and one of the largest hotels in Maine. With the addition, the South Meadow amenities complete the transition from hotel to resort. Our fitness center grand opening draws hundreds and immediately wins awards for its outstanding equipment and huge 6,200 square foot facility. The onsite TV room with stadium seating ushers in new evening entertainment with nightly, complimentary showings. And the Roman Spa debuts to rave reviews as our indoor hot tub and quickly, most popular amenity.
2005 – Our Ogunquit Hotel Gives Back …
As planning begins for extensive renovations on each building, the Meadowmere partners with Caring Unlimited, a non-for-profit that provides support and a safe haven for those living in domestic abuse, to donate furniture and hotel goods to help provide comfort to those in need.
2006 – Meadowmere Resort Ogunquit’s First Environmental Leader…
Certified by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection in November of 2006, the Meadowmere pushes forward to become Ogunquit’s first Environmental Leader hotel. Implementing energy conservation, changing all pools and hot tubs area to be chlorine free, implementing resort wide recycling, guest towel reuse programs and much, much more.
2008 – East Meadow Building Re-Launches…
Completely renovated with new mattresses, soft goods, furniture and Energy Star heat and air conditioning units, the East Meadow debuts in late winter. As a favorite location for weddings, family reunions and long time guests, the positive reviews begin immediately.
2008 – Meadowmere Joins the Marginal Way Cause…
Supporting the preservation of Ogunquit’s Marginal Way, the Meadowmere features the fund on its website and also supports through contributions and volunteerism the efforts to restore the walking path to its glory. Learn more by clicking wherever you see the buttons!
2010 – Meadowmere Adds Solar
The Meadowmere adds 48 solar panels adding solar hot water to our green programs as Ogunquit’s first Environmental Leader business and becomes certified as Maine’s only hotel Energy Star Small Business Partner. Our ongoing commitment to preserving our surroundings continues!
